Research Questions

  1. How well can remote sensing and image processing approaches be used to identify and quantify herbaceous vegetation cover in Southern California?
  2. When applied to imagery over a long time period, how will these newly developed approaches compare to previously created approaches for tracking herbaceous vegetation expansion?
  3. What is the effect of herbaceous vegetation expansion on fire regimes, both in terms of ignition potential and the likelihood of uncontrolled spread?
